SmartCart Privacy Policy

SmartCart (“the App”) is a golf course management application. This policy explains how we handle your data.
Data We Collect
Location Data
The App accesses your device’s location to:
- Display your position on golf course maps
- Calculate distances to course features such as greens, bunkers, hazards, and other points on the course
- Help find nearby golf courses
Location data is processed locally on your device and is not stored or transmitted externally by SmartCart.
Bluetooth Data
The App uses Bluetooth to connect to compatible SmartCart trolley hardware for:
- Pairing with nearby compatible SmartCart devices
- Displaying connection status
- Sending remote control and joystick commands
- Monitoring basic device communication status
Bluetooth data is used only to communicate with compatible hardware near your device. SmartCart does not sell Bluetooth data or share Bluetooth connection data with third parties.
Course Data You Create
When you create a golf course in the App, the following data is stored locally on your device:
- Course name and details
- Hole information, including zones, paths, par, handicap, and distances
- Map coordinates for course features
This data remains on your device unless you choose to upload it.
Uploaded Course Data
If you choose to upload a course to share with other users, the following data is transmitted to and stored using Apple’s iCloud / CloudKit infrastructure:
- Course name and details
- Hole and zone information
- Paths and mapped course features
- Map coordinates for course features
- Scoring metadata such as par, handicap, and distances
Uploading is entirely optional. You can use course creation and play features without uploading your course data.
How We Use Your Data

Uploaded Course Data: Ownership
By uploading a course, you agree that SmartCart may use, modify, correct, improve, distribute, and display that uploaded course data for purposes related to operating, improving, and promoting the App.
Uploaded course data may be made available to other SmartCart users and may be used to improve the quality and coverage of SmartCart’s course database.
Do not upload courses if you do not want the uploaded course data to be shared with other users.
Data Sharing
Uploaded courses are shared with other SmartCart users. Uploaded course data may also be used to improve SmartCart’s course database and related App functionality.
Local data that you do not upload is not shared with other users.
SmartCart does not sell your personal information.
Data Storage and Security
- Local data is stored on your device using standard iOS data protection.
- Uploaded course data is stored using Apple’s iCloud / CloudKit infrastructure.
- Data transmission uses standard encrypted connections where provided by Apple services and iOS networking.
We rely on Apple’s security measures for data stored in CloudKit. For more information, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Your Choices
You can:
- Use the App without uploading courses — Keep your course data local to your device.
- Delete local courses — Remove courses from your device at any time.
- Choose not to upload — Keep your courses private on your device.
- Control permissions — Manage location and Bluetooth permissions in iOS Settings.
Children’s Privacy
SmartCart does not require users to create an account and does not require names, email addresses, or other direct personal identifiers to use the App.
Course mapping data, such as hole layouts, zone coordinates, par values, and distances, does not directly identify individuals.
Location data is used for on-device display and distance calculations and is not stored or transmitted externally by SmartCart.
